Herbal Nature Comfrey tincture 50ml - Symphytum (Comfrey) Tincture
symphytum officinale
Herbal tinctures are made by steeping an herb in an alcoholic solution (usually pure alcohol) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this, the active ingredients of the herb dissolve in the alcoholic solution resulting in the tincture being created. Tinctures are much more active than infusions and decoctions.
Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is a perennial shrub native to Europe and the temperate regions of Asia. It grows mainly in moist soils and usually reaches one meter in height. It has a thick, hairy stem, elongated leaves, purple or whitish flowers and a fleshy, black root full of sap. It has a strong healing effect when applied to bruises, sprains and fractures.
Comfrey is a plant known since ancient times for its healing properties. The ancient Greek doctor and botanist Dioskouridis, in his writings, refers to the use of the plant to treat the injuries of Alexander the Great's army. The official Latin name of the plant "Symphytum" comes from the Greek word συφιω. During the Middle Ages in Europe, this herbal medicine was perhaps the only known way to treat fractures, sprains, etc. Catholic monks cultivated it in the monastery gardens.
Comfrey is applied to the skin to reduce inflammation from sprains and broken bones. Its leaves and roots contain allantoin, tannins, rosmarinic acid and other substances that help in cell regeneration. Recommended for bruises, sprains, fractures, and osteoarthritis.
CAUTION. This herb contains dangerous substances, the pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are very toxic to the liver. The US Food and Drug Administration does not allow its oral consumption. Also, ointments containing comfrey should not be applied to areas of the skin that are open and have wounds, and their use should not be extended for more than a month. It is forbidden to use Symphytos in children, the elderly and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also do not use if you have liver disease, alcoholism, cancer or other serious illnesses. Consult your doctor first.
Tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are particularly simple to take and completely natural. They are undoubtedly superior to dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals and preservatives and are absorbed much more efficiently by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very active and for this reason should be consumed according to their instructions. The usual dosage is 1ml (about 20 drops per day). They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
