Herbal Nature Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) tincture

Tinctures of herbs come from the immersion of a herb in an alcohol solution (usually pure alcohol), for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herb dissolve in alcohol-thus creating the tincture. The essences are much more effective than and spills of beverages.

The Achillea tincture  (Achillea millefolium) contains the same active ingredients as the dried herb Achillea (yarrow). In modern herbal medicine yarrow is used  in three different cases.

The first case concerns the treatment of flu, colds and fever. The yarrow is a strong sweating agent and a hot drink of it can induce sweat that detoxifies the body. Plant pigments and alkaloids (achillini) contained in yarrow have the capacity to "lower" the pressure and therefore the herb is recommended in cases of hypertension. Coumarins and salicylic acid (aspirin component) contained in yarrow prevent blood clots and promote overall good circulation through the expansion of peripheral arteries.

Finally yarrow is an effective wound healing agent. The name and reputation have been derived from this property - according to mythology the herb was given to Achilles by the centaur Chiron. Achilles used it to treat wounds of soldiers in the war of Troy. The use of yarrow (internally) helps to combat bleeding hemorrhoids, the menstrual bleeding and generally all internal bleeding. The antiseptic properties of Herbs (because of the content in azoulini and apigenin) are also important in cases of bleeding. 

The tinctures retain all the active constituents of a herb and are very simple to derive and are completely natural. They arguably outweigh the supplements in pill form, and do not contain chemicals and preservatives. Tinctures are absorbed much more efficiently by the body. The herbal tinctures are very active and therefore must be consumed in accordance with their instructions. The usual dosage is 1ml (about 20 drops per day).

 It should not be consumed during pregnancy and lactation.
