The essential oil of Wintergreen is obtained by distillation of leaves of the plant Gaultheria Procumbens (Source Wiki). The wintergreen comes from North America and is known to the natives used it - as decoction - for treating the symptoms of arthritis.

The essential oil of wintergreen has pale yellow color and odor resembling a "medicinal" products. This is no coincidence, since the wintergreen contains methyl salicylate (at up to 98%), the key component of our known aspirin.
