The Annato powder derived from the seeds of Bixa Orellana tree that grows in the tropics of the Americas. Historically, Annato powder was used for coloring various foods, especially cheese, butter, cereal and smoked ichthyron.
In the field of cosmetics, the Annato powder is used as a natural dye in the cold process of soap making. Its use provides very beautiful shades of orange and yellow. Use 1-4 teaspoons (depending on the "tone" you want to accomplish) per kilo of base oil. The best result is achieved if the base oil is hot.
