Citric Acid is an Organic Acid, the discovery of which is attributed to the Persian Alchemist Jabir Ibn Hayyan (Geber). It was isolated laboratory (from lemon juice) for the first time, in 1874, by the Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele. Today citric acid is used primarily as a flavor enhancer and a natural preservative in the food and beverage industry. It is still used by the cosmetics industry as an ingredient in the manufacture of cleaning products.

Citric Oxide is "almost necessary" for the manufacture of Bath Bombs (oxygen balls), as in combination with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) it creates the "effect" of "dissolving" the Bath Bomb in contact with water. It can be used in bath salts in exactly the same way. You will find it as an ingredient in many "recipes" for cleaning "home-made" products. It is believed to regulate pH and therefore you will find it as an ingredient in liquid soaps.

Citric Acid is offered to us in powder form (anhydrous) and contains no harmful chemicals and is of European Pharmacopoeia specifications.
