Niacin (vitamin B-3 or nicotinic acid or vitamin PP) is one of the vitamins of the B complex, necessary for the good health of the body. NOW's Flush-Free Niacin is designed to release gradually into the bloodstream, releasing histamine. Histamine is a nitrogenous organic compound that dilates blood vessels and breaks down the protein needed for blood clotting.

According to Harvard Health Publication research, niacin when taken alone can lower levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol by 15%, and increase levels of "good" HDL cholesterol by 20%. In addition, niacin when taken alone can lower triglyceride levels. When taken in combination with a statin, it can lower LDL cholesterol levels by 10%.
