Tinctures are derived from immersing a herb in an alcoholic solution (usually pure alcohol) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herb are dissolved in the alcoholic solution resulting in the tincture being formed. Tinctures are much more drastic than effusions and infusions.

Saw Palmetto tincture is the alcoholic extract derived from the berries of Serenoa repens. Serenoa repens is a plant native to the southeast of the United States.
