Black Pine (Pinus Nigra) is the well-known evergreen tree that grows mainly in mountainous and hilly areas of Greece, with characteristic of the pine needles and cones of which is exported, among others, the oil is widely used in production herbal cosmetics.

The action of the Black Pine oil is mainly wrinkle-firming. Rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, including epigallocatechin, reduces the effect of the metalloproteinase enzyme (or MMPs) that destroy the skin tissues. The presence of these enzymes gradually degrades proteins that are responsible for the renewal of the skin and lead to deterioration of the connective tissue of the skin. Surveys in middle-aged women showed that daily use of oil for more than two months reduces the appearance of wrinkles and sagging, and significantly increases the firmness and elasticity of the skin.
